STRAIGHTS NEED NOT ATTEND

      STRAIGHTS  NEED  NOT  ATTEND

THE ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out): who hang out in the Brookshire's Deli
for their daily bread and gravy need to spice up their conversational fare with the new
ways of Wimberley.  FORGET City Hall!  The action has shifted to the Wimberley Play-
house.  The closest this bunch has ever been to a play is to having their oil changed at
the Lube Shop next door.

The brou-ha-ha over the controversial play - "SORDID LIVES" - scheduled for November
by The Wimberley Players points up that many Wimberleyites are still influenced by
Christian-Judeo mores and are greatly offended by having a home grown cultural estab-
lishment like the Wimberley Playhouse cater to a supposed audience not here to fore
found in Wimberley; but, that the play would find enthusiastic embracement in cities
like San Francisco and Austin.

Evidently, the  "Artistic Director" thinks that Wimberley has or should come of age, and
that there is a an ample segment of the Wimberley population that would identify with
the characters and the story line of the play.  Maybe, maybe not, in any event, ticket sales
and attendance will bear that out.

What's next, Gay Pride Week in Wimberley?  What a parade that would make!
